From place of fear to gratitude with a dash of focus.

My first reaction when returning home after a very stirring performance of the opera Prince Igor and finding water everywhere in my front entrance was panic! I immediately went into that ‘place of fear’ imaging the worse scenarios around this ‘catastrophic’ occurrence.

Focus saved the day – for the moment. I knew I had to mop up the water before damage was caused to the flooring. I removed the baseboard, poked holes in the sodden ceiling segments to allow concentrated flow into pails etc etc.

Of course this was a weekend so there was no one to reach at the insurance company etc.

The only print on that wall was interestingly enough one entitled ‘change’ depicting a mature tree that literally changes to each season as you move by it.

SMACK! Right in the forehead – the message. I had been spinning wheels a bit and running into obstacles in my new life – business and personal. I was being told to change my outlook and methods. Pity I didn’t listen the first 4 or 6 times I was told this more gently. (smile)

From there I went to a place of Gratitude. Why you might ask? IF the insurance company covers it I’m still out $1,000 deductible etc. If not, then who knows how much? Was it going to hurt enough that my pending adventure to Sweden would need to be postponed or cancelled? I had a mess on my hands and more time away from business plans to clean this up and fix.

Gratitude for:

I have a home to retreat to from this excessively cold winter and spring.

I live in a home and a part of the world that water leaking from the roof is a ‘moment in time’ and not a way of life.

Grateful to have friends that offered assistance and advice.

Grateful to the Universe (insert which ever word works for you) to have the patience to send me this message of Change yet again. I think I’d have given up on me long ago. lol

Grateful for this catalyst that caused me to immerse in a purging/simplifying process – both internal and external. Yes, it’s true – even though I’ve taught classes in Clearing the Clutter, Feng Shui, and Intuition Development (all offered shortly online) – we all don’t ‘practice what we preach’ all the time. I do confess to being a Human being on an Earthly plane and do err. On occasion or often – depending on if I’m listening or not…….

Grateful that the thoughts of postponing or (yikes) cancelling my trip to Europe caused me to propel forward. I had been holding myself back by wanting everything to be perfect before launching online and offshoot business. My new motto (actually my old way of being that seems to have been lost along the way) is to just ‘jump in with passion’ – KNOWING that it will all work out.

Perhaps this relative small mishap which caused me to have the snow removed from the roof saved me from a larger issue later this spring.

I didn’t wash the floor before I went out. Seriously – I would have been quite annoyed if I had to wash floors again.

So there you have it! A positive emotion list greater than the panicky, expensive one. Now….back to changing the buckets……..
